WoW Day

July 10, 2013

Trerobart Primary School had their first Wow day today—Walk on Wednesday.  Two of the JRSOs were involved, together with Nadine Reeves, RCT Road Safety Officer, who brought along high vis vests for the children and adults. The weather was beautiful and the event went smoothly with everybody at their allocated bus stops at the appropriate time.  Twenty-six children had registered to take part and twenty-four children turned up on the day.  As we were walking, we picked up another two so our ...

Gardening Club

July 8, 2013

We had to cancel our plans to develop the school garden so the Eco committee decided to use the planters in the school yard to brighten up the environment.  Many classes had planted seeds so we were able to transplant them but as they were still seedlings they did not add any colour.  Molly’s (year 3) grandmother offered to help and we are so fortunate and grateful that she did. Not only did she offer her valuable time and guidance but she also donated many beautiful colourful plants, plant...

Whole School Assembly - Welsh Water

July 7, 2013
Mary from Welsh Water visited our school to tell us all about sewers and why they are being blocked. The assembly was extremely interesting, we had lots of fun but we learned valuable information at the same time.  Mary explained that if we put inappropriate things down our toilets, we not only risk our pipes becoming blocked but we cause problems for our neighbours as well.  We met two site inspectors who had two clear messages.  "Let's stop the block", and "Let's slow the flow".
The site ins...

Gardening Club Allotment Visit

June 18, 2013
The gardening club visited Claire's (dinner lady and parent) allotment.  She explained all about how they plant certain flowers next to their fruit and vegetable plants so that the slugs and snails will be attracted to the flowers and hopefully leave their fruit and vegetables alone.  We learned some great ideas which we will hopefully put to good use in the near future.  We even saw a bees nest in the lane, it was amazing!

Eco Committee and Year 4 Litter Pick

June 11, 2013
Yesterday, we took part in a litter pick.  Richard from Keep Wales Tidy came along with litter pickers, hoops to hold the bags, gloves and high vis vests.  We crossed the bridge by the Robbertown and joined the Taff trail.  We then walked along the mountain road to the Lady Windsor site.  We later joined the Taff trail and returned back to school with around ten bags of rubbish. We helped to clean up our environment and make it a safer place.  Richard and all the teachers are
very proud of us....
